| QUESTION: IS THERE A RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO SHIP COOKE LENSES? |
The recommended way to transport Cooke lenses is horizontally in a carrying case. Some Cooke lenses have a fairly heavy optical unit and if they are standing up (with the optical axis in a vertical position), they can be jolted from a drop of the case on a hard surface. The cam follower can be damaged and in the more severe cases the cam can be dented and may require a factory replacement.
With the lens lying down ( the optical axis in a horizontal position), the cam follower is not subjected to the same stress in the case of a similar drop and the bearings supporting the lenses in that position are much more resistant to impact.
However several inches of chock absorbing foam are recommended to minimize the impact in case of mishandling.
We also recommend that you set the focus ring to the stop-value just past the MMOD. |

| FAQ |
|
| ARE YOUR LENSES GOOD ENOUGH FOR THAT 4K HIGH DEFINITION CAMERA? |
There are a lot of claims on the camera side that the resolution is so high, the lenses are now the weaker link and dictate the maximum resolution of the produced image.
But check this out: even with a resolution of 50 line pair per millimeter your lens beats a 4k video camera by a comfortable margin. |
