New Firmware for Gemini 4:4:4
Includes a 'Sneak Peak' of Canon 4K Raw
Convergent Design has released it's latest firmware for Gemini 4:4:4, version 1.3.105. This is production-level firmware that improves the overall speed and reliability of the unit. It is recommended for ALL users.
This release fixes a problem when recording in ARRIRAW 4:3 Variframe using ALEXA SUP 7.0 and is therefore highly recommended for anyone shooting Variframe with any model ALEXA.
Additionally, this release previews our Canon 4K Cinema Raw Option. One can record Cinema Raw in demo mode (with a watermark), using a Canon C500. This release supports 4K (4096x2160) and Quad HD (3840x2160). Full support for the Canon C500 will be included in our firmware scheduled for release November 5, 2012. Canon 4K Cinema Raw support is an extra cost option, but is included in demo mode in our firmware for testing and evaluation purposes.

Gemini 4:4:4 is a full uncompressed recorder and 5" monitor that records to two 1.8" SSD's. Convergent Design offers an ARRIRAW Option, as well as a Stereo 3D Option, both as paid upgrades. Rounding out it's functionality will be a Canon 4K Cinema Raw Option.
The Canon 4K Cinema Raw Option will capture 10-bit Log Raw (.rmf) up to 30fps on a single Gemini, and up to 60fps using two Gemini's. Likewise, a single Gemini supports HD up to 60fps, while two Gemini's enables a blazing HD@120fps! |
