What makes this scanner so good for archived films that may be too fragile to be scanned on a typical machine?
The transport is totally stabilized electronically; the light sources are synchronized to the perforations on the fly without mechanical contact nor any sprockets. The only small amount of torque applied is to guaranty the image flatness over the sensing area. All this means is, we have been able to scan and preserve very fragile emulsions that would not have survived any of the other scanners currently on the market.
