Formatt uses the finest Water White Schott optical glass for every filter they make. Once fabricated, each filter is precision ground and polished using twin-sided digital polishing machines to a flatness previously unattainable. So critical is optical flatness to optical performance, every Formatt filter carries with it a guarantee of flatness to a 2-wave value and an individual reading from a laser interferometer.
Every filter is verified with a densitometer and spectrophotometer to ensure consistent density and accurate transmission. The secret to Formatt's consistency in filter design lies in the unique Absorbing Cell Technology, where color dyes are applied to a wafer thin absorbing cell. Formatt's color correction filters adhere to the Kodak Wratten Standard.
